Block Paving Cleaning Telford

Block paving when first laid really does looks stunning and its no surprise why block paving is the first choice for most customers when having a new driveway installed. 

However block paved driveways do look very nice but they do have a down side like....  They are very prone to weed and moss growth in the gaps were the pavers meet. Cleaning a block paved driveway to a high standard with a DIY karcher type pressure washer is near on impossible and very time consuming, if you have ever tried this you will know just how much hard work it can be and also very very messy.

GCT can achieve the kind of results on block paving that homeowners with DIY pressure washers simple just cant achieve. Its not always just down to the pressure washer as certain stains ( the dreaded black-spots) and growth also require treatments and chemicals all to remove these as water alone just isn't enough.

RE-SANDING, Once your block paved driveway has been cleaned and treated the next stage is to replace the sand from in between the gaps that gets washed away when being cleaned. This has to be done on a dry day when the surface is 100% dry and is simply done by sweeping kiln dried sand back into all the gaps of the paving. Re-sanding is an important part a driveway clean as it helps to keep all the blocks nice and sturdy while also helping to stop seedling being blown into the gaps so essentially helps prevent the weeds from coming back for  a little longer. 

Imprinted Concrete Cleaning Telford

We don't only clean pattern imprinted concrete we can also restore faded PIC driveways. Over the years the sealant applied to pattern imprinted concrete wears and will lose its once vibrant colour and shine leaving exposed concrete to the elements which in turn causes further damage to the driveway.

3 Steps we take to restore pattern imprinted concrete driveways and patios.

Step 1: Clean the area using our specialised flat surface rotary cleaner, this will remove any surface dirt and algae from the surface.   

Step 2: Once cleaned we then need to colour match the concrete colour tint used by the installers to ensure we have the correct colour pigment. The colour tint is then this is then added to our high quality imprinted concrete sealer. If the driveway was installed/sealed less than 3 years ago one coat is normally sufficient, if the driveway hasn't been sealed within this timeframe and is looking a little worse for wear then multiple coats may be require to bring your driveway back to its former glory. When wet pattern imprinted concrete driveways can become quite slippery, this is why we always add an anti-slip coating into the final coat.

Step 3: When we are happy the concrete has had sufficient coats of sealer, the sealer then needs to cure. The driveway will be coned of and asked for cars to be kept of the area for a minimum of 24 hours.

On going maintenance,

Pattern imprinted driveways don have to be sealed every time they are cleaned after the driveway or patio as been cleaned and sealed its is then advised to have a general clean yearly this will protect your investment and keep the surface dirt, moss and algae free.

Resin Driveway Cleaning Telford

Resin driveway seem to be the new craze and more and more homes in Telford are opting for these over any other traditional driveway surface.

Resin when laid really does look great.... but it is quite porous and can soon become grubby over time.

Pressure washing resin surface areas is difficult to achieve professional results with a DIY machine and really needs to be cleaned by a professional.

With resin bound or bond a flat surface rotary cleaner is the tool of choice along with a pre and post treatment to soften any growth and grime on the surface.

Tarmac Driveway Cleaning Telford

We clean tarmac driveways in a very similar way to how we clean resin driveways as mentioned above. Tarmac seems to suffer with moss more than weeds. If the moss is really bad we alway recommend a pre treatment to kill/soften the moss before using a pressure washer to clean the surface.

Patio 's the same as driveways come in many shapes and sizes with many different material being used to surface. The most commonly laid surface types we find for patios are -

Concrete flagstone; communally known as slabs - slabs are very cost effective and are simply made up from large concrete blocks these come in  many different sizes, colours and styles. Slabs even though relatively cheap compared to other surface types can still make for some fabulous looking patio areas. Cleaning slabs is relatively easy as they are basically just slabs of concrete but again still require certain treatments either pre or post clean to fully clean as water / pressure washing alone doesn't always shift those dreaded black-spots from the concrete surface.

Natural Stone Cleaning Telford; Natural stone  is by far our favourite stone surfaces to clean and makes for some of the most beautiful looking patios we have came across. Natural stone is available in many different forms from Indian sandstone to york stone just to name a couple. With clean stone we tend to use the same delicate procedure as cleaning resin but sometime a little heat is needed, the reason we use heat/steam is this allows us to use less pressure on the surface as the hot  waters aids with the cleaning process.  Naturual stone patio are usually joing together by pointing, if traditional point is used this can last many many years and is very hardwearing, where if the brush in type of pointing has been used this deteriorates over a relatively short period of time and can break away when being cleaned due to being such a soft material. We alway check over and point out any deteriorated pointing when carrying out your quotation as sometimes bad pointing can be hidden by moss/weed growth that has formed in between the flagstones.

Natural stone due to being very porous suffers with algae and lichen and this is why on every natural stone patio clean we apply a treatment to fully kill/remove any growth from the surface.

 We see all the time customers who have either cleaned there patio themselves or had someone in who doesn't really know how to clean natural stone and they are clean but left with the dreaded  black spots as water alone will not remove this problem. No matter how well your patio has been cleaned with just water it will still look dirty if covered in black spots.
